Justin MadDog Morris - New Elite Rider Development Director in Charge of Elite Rider Program
The NSCC committee is excited to announce the appointment of Justin Mad Dog Morris as Elite Rider Development Director for the 2016 Season. The club is investing heavily in a development program to select and nurture riders to compete at the NRS level in Australia.
The squad - to be drawn from U17 to Elite groups - will be selected by Justin who will provide a highly individualised program of development including:
- training programs
- race programs
- development camps
- skills development and
- individual rider nurturing
Calling NSW's Best Women Riders - Rob Hodgson Memorial Race Sunday 29th November - $800 Prize Pool
On Sunday 29th November we are holding the annual Rob Hodgson Memorial Event to honour the life of Rob who tragically passed away in his prime in 2013.
In addition to the men's platinum race (invitation only) and men's silver race, there will be a women's race with a prize pool of $800 (subject to numbers). This is a fantastic opportunity for NSW elite women to race for top prizemoney in Sydney's premier criterium course - Beauie (Beaumont Road, Mount Ku-Ring-gai). So register for the women's race on the club shop tab at the top of the page.
Elite Rider Profile Series - Briony Mattocks
NSCC Is fortunate to have so many riders who race at the national elite level. I will be running a series of web stories about the club's high achievers over the coming months.
First up is our Women's Coordinator, Briony Mattocks, who has been killing them on the dirt this year in her maiden year at national level. Last weekend she finished within 5 points of winning the monster Bayview Bash series - her success this year has been phenomenal and an inspiration to all our female riders to compete on both road and MTB.
Grafton to Inverell - Race Report
On Saturday 12 hard men from the club - 3 in A grade, 8 in B grade and 1 in C grade - faced the ultimate racing challenge in Australia's toughest one-day race. The Grafton to Inverell 55th edition - 228km and 3,500 of climbing under race conditions doesn't get any harder than this. Forget sportifs, this is real racing where no prisoners are taken.
Race conditions were ideal with cool weather early and hardly any wind - perfect conditions for breaks which told the story in all three grades.

NSCC Returns to the "Monster" - Grafton to Inverell 2015
Without doubt, the pinnacle one-day classic race in Australia is this weekend's Grafton to Inverell. It's a monster 228km, which includes the brutal 20km climb over Gibraltar Range. This is a race for the true believers as everyone who has completed it confirms its the toughest event out there.
Beauie Worlds Sunday 18 October
GET OUT OF BED.....Sunday morning is for racing and Beauie is THE capital of crit racing in NSW.
Sunday morning we will have the region's best and twitchiest lining up across 4 grades A-D to compete in the most popular crit race out there.
Racing is scratch format, numbers are strictly limited, so get there by 7.30am to sign-on. Remember to bring your current race licence - no day passes available unfortunately - and proudly wear your home club colours.
Registration fee is $15; address for newbies is Beaumont road, Mount Ku-Ring-Gai
Club Pink Ride - Sat 17th October
Michael Whittingham, Neil Matthews and Geoff Goh are once again raising funds for the National Breast Cancer Foundation, kicking off riding 700k in 7 days on October 16.
In support of these guys, the club encourages riders to join the club flagship rides on Saturday 17 October wearing pink, and or with bikes decorated in pink and of course to donate to the cause.

Monday 5th October - Beauie World Titles - Sydney's Premier Criterium Race
The weather is brilliant, winter is over and spring is here. This Monday on this gorgeous long weekend, Beauie is on. So put the legs warmers and arm warmers back in the bottom drawer, shave those legs and get yourself out to Beauie this Monday to start racing again.
For those guns who have been racing all winter, this Monday will be a chance to show off your hot form on a beautiful warm day.
Racing will be scratch format across four grades A-D. Definitely get there early to register as numbers are limited as we promote fast safe racing. So its first in best dressed.
Sunday 20th September - Beauie World Titles - Sydney's Premier Criterium Race
Beauie is Back!!!! After the rain got the Beauie KOM two weeks ago, we are tipping fine race weather for this Sunday.
All of Sydney and the Central Coast's top racers are itching for some hot crit action and we all know Beauie is the place for fast safe racing. Also for those doing National Masters at the end of September, this is your perfect tune-up race to get those fast-twitch muscles firing.
