Rain Gods 2 - Beauie Worlds 0
Due to Noah's flood conditions this week, the rain gods have again beaten us. For safety reasons we are cancelling Beauie early so you can have a sleep in and then hit the turbo and dream of racing at Beauie.
If this rain continues we will arrange for Zwift and Sufferfest to create a Beauie circuit on their apps so we can get to enjoy our favourite course
Beauie Worlds Sunday 19th March - Let There Be Sunshine
After a week of miserable weather, this Sunday the cycling gods have been summoned to Mount Olympus, aka Mount Ku-Ring-Gai, for the first Beauie Worlds for 2017.
Every hitter in the region has been burning out their Wahoo Kickrs, Tacx Neos and fluid trainers, trying to keep the legs fresh for this Sunday. Well folks your wait is over, because this Sunday Beauie is on.
Beauie Cancelled Today
Unfortunately the weather has beaten us and in the interests of safety we have had to cancel today's Beauie.
Watch this site and Facebook for a rescheduled date to be announced
Thanks
Beauie World's Sunday 26th February - Chris Froome @ Beauie
Well that headline no doubt caught your attention. While Chris did ride with Harrison Bailey, one of our gun riders, he unfortunately can't be at Beauie this Sunday.
However, every other hitter in the region will be there to claim honours in the first Beauie for 2017. There are imitators in the crit racing scene, but there's only one Beauie - a perfect tight and fast circuit that has become the benchmark and Sydney's premier criterium race.
There will be 4 grades A-D, in a scratch race format.
Club Women's Ride 5th February
Calling all interested women riders - one of our members, Ruth-Anne Marchant - has organised a ride for Sunday 5th February. Details are set out below
There will be two distance options: ~40km and ~55km. Both options will take us to Akuna Bay.
Those interested in the ~55km option, we meet at Hornsby Pool at 6:30 AM.
Those interested in the ~40km option, we'll pick you up in St Ives along the way. Exact location/time to be posted closer to the date. Check our Facebook group for details.
Beauie Racing Update
Happy new year to all Beauie devotees.
Due to late receipt of our race approvals, there will be no Beauie in January. Check this website and facebook for details to be posted on the first Beauie race date for February.
Christmas Message to All Members
Folks here is a Christmas message on behalf of the club committee - all members will receive this via a Red and Black email too.
On behalf of the NSCC Committee we want to wish all our members a very happy and safe Xmas and New Year.
In recent weeks the cycling community has been saddened by serious injury and loss of life in cycling tragedies, and it's a reminder to us all that we need to be conscious of safety in this wonderful sport of ours.
Club Member Harrison Bailey - His Ride with Chris Froome
NSCC former Academy junior, club member and NRS racer (now with USA pro conti team) Harrison Bailey had the incredible experience of riding for several hours 1:1 with Chris Froome.
Here is his story - in his own words - courtesy of Ride Media.
There's also a YouTube link below:
The presence of Chris Froome brought to L’Etape what no one else could, a simple “hello” to anyone who acknowledged him along the road. Even something as small as being passed by Froome evoked beaming grins from fellow participants.
Beauie Results - 4th December
On this the first Sunday of summer, the atmosphere at Beauie was festive as the riders lined up for the final Beauie of 2016.
The Commissaire Phil Youdale decided to shake up everyone - especially those sally sit-ons who were planning to bludge then hit the bunch sprint - by announcing a four grade handicap.
The anticipation was palpable as everyone knew that a handicap at Beauie equals 45 minutes of sheer pain. And so it turned out.
Robert Hodgson Memorial Race - Report and Results
A top quality field (in all grades), perfect weather, and fast crit racing were the perfect combination to honour the life of NSCC legend Rob Hodgson. The 4th Robert Hodgson Memorial Race was a fitting tribute to Rob with the cream of Sydney and the Central Coast's bike racers competing for the ultimate prize.
With awesome prizemoney and prizes on offer - courtesy of our generous sponsors, MOITS, Thornleigh Autobody and Cyclery Northside - the intensity of racing was even higher.
