Plenty happening around NSCC at the moment as we well and truly gear up for the 2014. Read on and see what you can get involved in!

Beaumont Road Season Competition
Planning has been underway to develop a Beaumont Road 12 race season series commencing Sunday 16th March and extending to 19 October, and include scratch races, handicaps and 2 teams events. We are still sorting some of the finer detail, but the idea is that you accumulate points for racing, and extra points for a place on the podium.

Each race lets you accumulate points towards a season prize. So you might not win races, but consistent participation might just see you at the top of the leader board! Separate points scores will be held for A, B and C grades and there will be close attention given to ensuring people are in the right grades.

We are also presently discussing sponsorships to support the prizes, and more detail will follow.

Beauie will remain open to visitors from other clubs, but this initiative is designed to get more NSCC riders involved.

Stay alert for more information.

2014 race calendar
We have also looked at the calendar for metro, country, state and national opens and championships with a view of assisting more NSCC riders participate in these events.

A time table of the races and training rides supported by NSCC will be issued shortly, but we are hoping to encourage NSCC members to entre the Cootamundra, Gunnedah, Mudgee, Ken Dinnervale and Nowra races. In addition, the Sydney Road Titles at Penrith and the Kurrajong Classic are close to home, and provide good hard racing in graded formats.

We will plan a club information night in late March or early April to provide further information for NSCC members who are interested. A schedule of long training rides has also been developed that recognises the need to build base training and preparation. This will be included in the Beauie and 2014 Race Calendar.

In the meantime, take some time to look at the Cycling NSW website at for the up and coming events. Start to ask other NSCC members about the races. You will be surprised as to how easy it is to get involved.

There is a race for everyone ... especially the handicaps! And I can think of quite a few NSCC riders who are good enough. Ask us the questions you have on your mind.

Recent achievements around NSCC

I have tried to keep everyone up to date with recent achievements of our members on the road and track. This has included the outstanding effort by Saxon Irvine at the National Road Champs, and Nick Both representing Australia in the World Cyclocross Champs.

Our juniors have also performed well on the velodrome with Ashlee Jones, Laura Jones, and Brad Heap winning medals.

So, please keep these stories coming in and let everyone around the club keep up to date with the performances of NSCC riders, on the road, track and dirt!

Robert Hodgson Memorial Race - Club Time Trial Championship

You may recall that we had targeted 5th April for the Club Time trial Championship however this date clashes with the Bathurst to Blayney.

We are continuing to talk with Australian Time Trial Association to schedule a date for the Gold Beauie and run the race at Calga.

2013 Awards Night

Ticket sales have continued to be strong and there in now less than 3 weeks to go. We still want more people to attend in what is going to be an enjoyable night.

C'mon ... its been too long since we had a big social event, where we can enjoy the company of fellow NSCC members.

And maybe, you have been nominated for a race or club award!

Please get your tickets from the NSCC web shop.
