Beamont Rd criterium grades?

Hi All,

Was looking at Beauie Worlds Criterium Racing page and am confused with the Categories section, i.e:

Categories:
A Grade (41km/h +)
B Grade (38km/h +)
C Grade (35km/h +)
D Grade (30km/h +)

Does the speed listed above represent (a) the average for the hour, (b) the speed required for the sprint at the end, or (c) what the peloton occasionally rolls at so if you can't hold that pace you'll be dropped?

Cheers, Lee

Those are a very rough guide to what the average speeds would be for each grade's race. Note that the higher the grade, the slightly longer the race too. Some races are faster, some are slower, just depends who turns up and how everyone's feeling Smiling

Speeds of races aren't really comparable to any other type of riding. If you want to know what grade you should be racing just turn up and someone will assess your legs Smiling

Lee, have a look at some of the El Pres boys Strava files from the last races and you'll get an idea.
I would suggest you have B Grade legs, although you may wish to start in C if you haven't done a crit before just to get a feel for it.
