It is with a sad heart that we announce the passing of former NSCC rider Robbie Williams. Robbie was 27 years old and has died on a training ride in North Canberra in what has been described as a 'Medical Incident'.
Robbie raced for the NSCC 'Mace - Rock and Dirt powered by Up and Go' racing team in its inaugural year and brought instant success to the new team at the Canberra tour in '06. He won both the opening prologue and stage two on Saturday before finishing second overall to Robert MacLachlan from the Drapac Porsche team which Robbie eventually joined in '07. In '07 Robbie went on to further success winning the Goulburn to Sydney. Not only will he be remembered as a brilliant rider but also as a down-to-earth person who was well liked by everyone he came in contact with. He will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and condolences are with his parents Bruce, Sue and family, fiance and friends.
