Northern Sydney Riders Kor Sietsma, Harrison Morgan and Tom Patton were invited to attend the 18th Tour de L'amitie Tahiti as part of two teams from Australia.

Kor is part of the Australie 1 Lan Atlantic team, whilst Tom and Harrison are part of the Australie 2 - Koenig Expanders Schiltec Team.

Thanks Leighanne Sietsma and Tom Patton for the updates. I'm not good at French....

Boys in the bed and the little one said.....
Tom and Harro put the feet up pre tour.

Tom started the week with a 3rd Place in the opening prologue. An avg speed of 52.8 km/h with no TT bars suggested the boy was on form from the start.

Stage 1
The first of a handful of uphill finishes in the Tour of Friendship. In 43 degree heat, Tom Patton finished 3rd and sits 3rd on GC.

Stage 2
Harrison Morgan finished in 2nd Place on Monday 30th July Stage 2 of Tour de L'amite Tahiti. With a hilltop finish at POINT DE VUE DU BELVÉDÈRE the 72km stage set the boys up well for a strong performance.

Stage 3
Tuesday July 31 saw a 3 lap road race on a circuit of 34 km between the AER Supermarket Paopao, the shirt sponsor is Best Young Rider (under 23) and the junction of the Opunohu Bay and Green Pearl Golf Temae-Moorea.

Stage 4

With a strong showing and consistent podiums over the past 3-4 days, Tom was keen to have a crack at GC. After destroying his front Bora 15km into the race after riding in the dirt, Tom's teammate pulled him back for 10km while Kraner from Team Europcar rode off the front. Tommy got away in a break on last 25km.

Dane Crawford put in some massive efforts to take stage win and green jersey. The time gaps and 3rd place on the stage were enough though to move Tom into overall leader of Tour of Tahiti and white Leader of the U23 category.

PS - Boras don't like dirt.

GC Podium after Stage 3 - Tom Patton in Yellow

Not quite L'Equipe but still some desirable French press coverage

Stage 5
Holding both the yellow and white jerseys, Tom and the rest of the peloton embarked on a 120km stage with 6km mountain top finish.

After a few hard days racing and too many Pies, Tom unfortunately couldnt hold another podium finish which was all that stood between him and retaining yellow.

Tom lost yellow jersey by .010 of a second on the mountain finish but finished 4th on the Stage. An incredible effort and a demonstration of how close the racing is in Tahiti.

Tom now sits 2nd overall in GC and retains the white jersey in the U23 category.
Tom's quote from the finish

"Hardest thing I have ever done on a bike. I was the boonah that couldn't get off the bike at finish."

Racing doesn't look that hard....

With still a few more days racing, anything is still possible.
