With deep regret it is to inform the sad passing of Ross Martin last Saturday, after a cycling accident near Newcastle.

Ross was instrumental in the development of northside cycle sport since the early 1980’s, and was an active contributor to our club committee for many years. Be it a local road race to West Head, or a criterium around the Warriewood Valley or Beaumont Road at Mt Ku Ring Gai, Ross always had a valuable contribution to make on competition or road safety issues. If you wanted something done to make a club race run better, simply give it to Ross.

In his later years Ross took on numerous northside road safety challenges, striving to make cycling a safer enviroment for all. If a letter had to be written to a government department or a local politician on any cycling issue, then Ross was your man to get the job done.

In more recent years Ross spent majority of his time in the Newcastle area but his efforts and contributions to our sport should never be forgotten and always acknowledged.

Unfortunately I never met Ross myself but I would like to acknowledge his efforts in helping develop our sport and more locally, our club, of which I now Preside.
We have a rich history as a cycling club in which Ross was instrumental.

Thank you Ross, it is an honour to follow in your footsteps.
