NSCC's Mark Blackman is riding in memory of his sister, Robyn
Did you know that 1 in 2 Australians will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime? Mark’s big sister Robyn was one of those people. On her last day, Robyn was still making plans for things she could do to enrich the lives and spirits of other people. She was much loved by her family and friends and is greatly missed.
Mark Blackman will be cycling 200Kms in October 11 - 12 in the Ride to Conquer Cancer to raise much needed funds for cancer research and treatment. He will be riding for Robyn.
An update on NSCC race calendar ... to put into your calendar!
At this stage we have 2 postponed days (1-June & 17-August) to catch-up with the NSCC BikeBug Beauie series.
Subject to final race sanction approvals, the catch-up days will be 23-November and 7-December. We have received approval from Cycling NSW but are waiting for Council and Police approvals. We also have 21-December as a back-up should there be further postponements.
Note that 9-November is NSCC club road champs and this is not part of the BikeBug series.
Jerry signs on for his first Kurrajong Open and scores a second place
NSCC's Jerry Kalogeropoulos has generally keep his racing simple focussing mainly on Beauie Worlds, but he signed on for Division 3 of the Kurrajong Classic and scores a second place. This is his story!
"... I had no idea what to expect, as its pretty much the first opens race I've had a go at. The atmosphere was fantastic, and it was great to see so many people there from the club. I'm still getting to know who's who, but everybody was so incredibly friendly and welcoming.
Steve Hume talks about his first Open race at Coota
When asked to reflect on his first race weekend at a NSW country open, Steve Hume listed 5 big reasons why he will do it again.
1) The bus and accommodation package. Excellent value and excellent FUN!! Thank you Craig, for planning and organizing the transport and accommodation. Thank you to the drivers over the weekend, Neil, Stuart and Craig.
We need 16+ Traffic Controllers to support Beauie Worlds racing ... or it does not run!
A few weeks back I corresponded with all NSCC members regarding the need for volunteers to be traffic controllers (TC's) to support NSCC racing at Beaumont Road. Racing at Beauie is only possible with trained and licensed TC's on the course.
Beauie is critical for us to have a race calendar, be financially healthy and community minded. No volunteers, then no race.
The present group of TC's have been doing a great job, however the more helping hands we have, the more the workload is spread (i.e. 2-3 times a year).
Sunday's Beauie Cancelled Due to Rain
Folks Unfortunately the rain has set in and Beauie is cancelled for safety reasons.

A man on a mission for Edgar’s Mission - Tai's story
Saturday the 9th of August. That would be the day. The day I choose to ride 8848m in elevation to help raise money for Edgar’s Mission.
Edgar’s Mission is a not for profit farm sanctuary that has a very warm place in my heart. Although based in the foot hills of the Great Dividing Range in Victoria, the loving and kind work of Pam Ahern (founder of Edgar’s Mission) has reached the hearts of many people all over the nation. Her dedication, her passion and her love for these animals is simply inspiring.

Beauie Worlds and the BikeBug Points series 20-July 2014
Another great day of racing at Beaumont Road, this time as a handicap. Good attendance with NSCC and overall registrations up on the last few weeks.
A large B-grade failed to get organise and chase down C grade. Good racing also by the many juniors who had signed on today. A-grade had also organised into a rolling pace line but the gap to B-grade could not be closed in time.
Sunday 20th July - Special Beauie Criterium Handicap Race
Are you sick of being dropped in open handicap races? Do your mates kick sand in your face because you can't do rolling turns? Are you a D-grader who wants to blow away those uppety A-graders?
This Sunday the Bike Bug NSCC Criterium Series - Sydney's Premier Criterium Race - has an all-grades handicap. The last handicap we ran was great training for those killer open handicap races and we received rave reviews about the format. This is invaluable practice for swapping off and rolling pacelines.

This Sunday sees another round of the BikeBug Beaumont Road Crit Series - Sydney's Premier Crit Race.
This weekend we are throwing out a challenge to Sydney and the Central Coast's gun riders (in all grades of course), to get to Beauie and try to emulate the sprinters and breakaway specialists from the 1st TDF stage on Saturday night.
Riders from all clubs are welcome to pit yourself against the best and compete for good prize money. For those racing opens, crit racing is a great way to tune your speed and power, in a competitive race environment.
The BikeBug Beauie Worlds update for Sunday 22 June
The BikeBug Beauie Worlds Series ran again on Sunday 22 June, with a reduced number of riders turning up compete across the 4 grades.
As it turned out, MWCC had been forced to postpone their West Head race which meant a clash of the two fixtures. In addition, we had 9 riders up at Gunnedah that also reduced numbers.
Anyway, it was pleasing that racing was still held after the washout of the 1st June race. We are currently looking to reschedule the postponed race to Sunday 3 August so watch for more announcements.
Places for last Sunday were awarded as follows:
