Richard Spinks wins MMAS9 (standard) and Neil Matthews has a strong ride in MMAS6

Richard Spinks won masters 9 by almost a kilometre in a patient display of power riding. After turning 2nd on the last lap he simply reeled in the leader and then blitzed the field to show his class over the field.

Neil Matthews was in the bunch sprint at the finish of the masters 6. You could have thrown a handkerchief over the bunch and Neil came in at 15th but only a couple of bike lengths from the winner.

Words also thanks to Archie Wilson and Neil during the day. Those guys have a calling race commentating. Electrifying.

Ross Hodgson 2nd in MMAS7 at State Champs

Ross Hodgson got 2nd in MMAS7 after doing most of the work on the front in a 2 man breakaway. Ross was sandwiched between 2 Penrith riders with the other Penrith rider a minute back.

Quote from Ross "where is the rest of the club when they could be here in glorious Gunning on a spring day - only 2 hours from Sydney"

Kit update

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

NSCC has had some difficulty ordering new kit as one of our sponsors withdrew their support of the club mid year. We've had to look for a new sponsor to help fund new kit. We'd like to thank George and Choc for their generous support and coming on board as new Kit sponsors.

MMAS1 State Champs - Harro has a strong ride for fourth

Harro ran fourth today. Just pipped on the line chasing down two escapees.

Harro, true to form just made the start by 15 mins. Possibly a combination of running a little late and Harro as usual taking the responsibility to make the race pushed him just off the podium. He's looking good for the Nationals and Grafton.

NSCC NSW State Masters Criterium Championships report

Great results in the Criterium today for NSCC Masters.

Congratulations to RIchard Spinks with Gold in MMAS 9 and Robert Hodgson with Silver in MMAS 7.

Apparently conditions were pretty windy. Unfortunately Archie Wilson came down and is on his way to hospital after crashing. It doesn't look like he has any serious injuries or broken bones and should be fine though. Update - Archie has had x-rays and is cleared of any broken bones.

NSCC NSW State Masters TT Championships results

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Congrats to all the NSCC Masters who went down to Goulburn to compete in the State Time Trial Championships yesterday.

I heard conditions were pretty fresh. Apparently one competitor on a TT bike with skin suit and aero helmet was only seeing 25 km/h on his speedo into the block headwind on the way out. Besides the wind, competitors had sleet and hail to contend with.

NSCC Results were:

  • Richard Spinks Silver MMAS9
  • Ross Hodgson Bronze MMAS7
  • Neil Matthews 5th MMAS6
  • Andrew East 4th MMAS3

NSCC Organised Training Rides

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

With Grafton a little under 2 months away now, NSCC have organised a series of training rides for those of you who are racing Grafton or alternatively are keen to really get some quality training in at a decent pace.
We have organised a series of epic training rides that gradually increase in length and difficulty which will help get you prepared for Grafton including a trip to the Southern Highland in early October.
Nearly all of the rides have bail out options, so if you are keen to join for part of the ride and then turnaround this has been accommodated as well.

Beauie Worlds Results 12th August

Sunday's race was a handicap. C Grade with 4 minutes on B and another 3 minutes to A Grade. C Grade were doing well holding off B grade but with around 2 laps to go A Grade caught B and it was then all over in a flash. A great handicap with the race all coming together just before the end. The A grade riders too strong in the finish.

Results
1st Justin Morris NSCC
2nd Phil Nelson NSCC
3rd Harrison Morgan NSCC

A Big thanks to Trent for running a well timed handicap which was great to watch. Thanks also to Peter and Kathy from Hornsby Cycles for Traffic Controlling the race.

Beauie Worlds this Sunday Aug 12

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

While NSCC has been busy travelling near and far to Mudgee and more glamorously - Tahiti, we have neglected to update the Racing Calendar!!!!

So please be advised Beauie Worlds is ON this Sunday Aug 12
http://northernsydneycyclingclub.org.au/node/35436

Keep an eye on the weather but if its raining, we wont be racing. While we personally admire the commitment of those who do turn up when its wet, we don't race on a wet course due to the nature of the course itself (hairpin turns over painted lines).

In B Grade, NSCC's flying junior, Jacob Jones holds the crown from last race. Will he return to defend the title and set up the chance to have a crack at a 3-peat in 4 weeks time?

See you there for an 8.15am race start this Sunday July 1.

Beauie Worlds Report - June 17. Manly bring some "A" pain and a JJ steals the B show

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

With text messages flying all over the place at 10.45pm on Saturday night, many a Beauie regular were wondering will the rain stop and Beauie proceed. El Pres made a special request to the rain gods and an amazing cloudless sky greeted around 50 punters with a near even split of Manly-Warringah and NSCC riders.

Healthy sized fields in A and B Grade saw some great racing. Attacks, breakaways and plenty of team work were on show.
